After many years of finding it depressing, I've found an interest in classical music again. In addition to some of what I loved growing up with, such as Renaissance Dance music, I've expanded my horizons a bit.
I am trying to be a little more particular with the classical music I buy than I am with the other genres. This is largely due to availability. Unlike most folk or rock music, one can buy a great deal of classical on SACD or DVD-Audio. There is a growing trend toward Blu-ray for both classical and rock, but the latter especially tends to be mostly concerts.
I buy most of my classical music from Linn Records or 2L, both catering to the audiophile market. With Linn, you can purchase studio master albums as downloads, bypassing shipping plastic across the planet altogether, if you so desire. (Linn has halted the production of CD players in exchange for making beautiful networked UPnP-based players. Thus, the hardware and "software" divisions have both fully embraced the new century.)
